What is Pluggo and why do I have to install it?

For our plug-ins, we use a format developed by Cycling '74 called Pluggo. Pluggo provides a framework to interface a single, "native Pluggo" plug-in to VST, RTAS, and AU standards. In this way, Pluggo is similar to Waves' Waveshell framework. Unlike some other "wrapper" approaches, Pluggo does not add latency to the audio stream.

Yes, this does mean that you'll need to install the free Pluggo Jr. or Pluggo Runtime before using our plug-ins. Bummer, right, one more step between you and sonic nirvana? Well, here are some of the advantages: if you download Pluggo Jr., you get a dozen free plug-ins right off the bat. Installing Pluggo also opens the door to hundreds of free downloadable plug-ins created by users, some of which are listed here. Last but not least, using Pluggo as our release format cuts countless hours out of our development cycle by removing the need to create seperate VST, RTAS, and AU versions of our plug-ins... and the savings are passed on to you!

Pluggo is not required to run any of our applications, it is only for our plug-ins (the Lowender and the Real Time Analyzer).

Do you make software for Windows systems, or just Macintosh?
Thus far, we have only developed for Macs. Expansion into the world of Windows is in the cards, but it's not right around the corner.
