Quietude and the Future

Oct 16, 2014

2014 has been a quiet year at reFuse Software. Too quiet. Quiet enough that I feel our users deserve at least a brief explanation. Back in March, my life was shaken up by a family health crisis. In the wake of that, many of the plans for this year had to be put on hold. That crisis has somewhat abated, and I can now look ahead to what comes next.

It has been almost a year since the Lowender AAX beta was made available to registered users. The good news is, it has been performing perfectly in the field!

The bad, and somewhat embarrassing, news is that the full launch of the AAX version has been stalled for this long. Without going into technical details, the full launch of the AAX version will include improvements to the licensing scheme – and implementing these improvements requires that we complete an overhaul of the website’s backend that was left 80% done last spring.

And, believe it or not, I didn’t get into software design because I loved doing AAX updates and administrative wrangling… I got into it because I love designing software! And, I am excited to clear the decks of these overdue goals, and bring the next round of plug-ins (currently prototyped in-house) to maturity. The Swarm synth has also been updated with new features in-house, and is awaiting polishing and packaging before being released into the world.

Thank you for your patience.

cheers, Leigh
